Governor Ferguson Signs SB 5083

This week, Governor Ferguson signed into law SB 5083. SB 5083, sponsored by RPEC’s 2025 Legislative Champion, Senator June Robinson, aims to regulate healthcare reimbursement rates for public employee health insurance, focusing on creating more affordable and accessible healthcare services. Health insurance contractors must adhere to specific reimbursement guidelines for hospitals, primary care, and behavioral health services. For in-network hospitals in Washington, reimbursement will be limited to the lesser of billed charges, the contracted rate, or 200% of Medicare's reimbursement rate.
