Hi..I am wondering about resolutions to the convention. I see they are due August 9th, 2024. I haven’t seen much to membership about submitting them or what they are. Wondering if a reminder to all members about them and the process isn’t in order? Thanks

All chapters have been notified in the Convention Call about submitting resolutions to the convention, and I sent a reminder to chapter leaders recently. Resolutions and amendments can only be submitted by chapters or the RPEC Executive Board, not individual members.
We have ‘pitched’ the importance of attending convention to all members in several past member-wide emails, the Council Winter & Spring newsletters, website posts and the Executive Director letters (which also runs in chapter newsletters), directing members to their local chapters and encouraging them to take part.
Also, I see the Constitution is there, but not the by-laws? When I try to get the by-laws, only the Constitution comes up. They are seperate documents, correct? Thanks
The term “constitution & by-laws” has been used in RPEC for decades, although we do not have a governing document titled as such, only a mention of the word By-laws on page 11 of the Constitution, referencing Robert’s Rules of Order for issues not covered by the Constitution. RPEC just has a constitution which can only be modified by the convention body every two years. In place of by-laws, and so that they do not have to go before the convention body, we have several policies developed, modified and approved by the Executive Board, as is their duty under the constitution, and can be revised as necessary. We are working on building out a policy repository on the website, but they can currently be found in the Leadership Handbook, https://rpecwa.org/Media/Chapter/Leadership%20Handbook.pdf.
