RPEC Speakers Series Featuring Congressman Adam Smith, August 5, 10:00-11:00 AM
Registration is open for RPEC’s next Speakers Series event, featuring Congressman Adam Smith, who will discuss the status of Social Security and Medicare, including federal funding, policy developments, and legislation. Congressman Smith’s presentation will be followed by a Q & A period. The event will take place via Zoom on Monday, August 5, from 10:00-11:00 AM. You must register in advance to attend.
Congressman Smith represents Washington’s 9th Congressional District (central Puget Sound region and parts of King County). He is a cosponsor of The Medicare for All Act, legislation that recognizes health care as a basic human right. The Medicare for All Act would improve our health care system by establishing a single-payer, health care for all program. Moreover, Congressman Smith has been a champion for expanding Social Security funding and benefits.
The Speakers Series was created last year in response to feedback provided by RPEC members vested in Plans 2 and 3. In addition to hosting this annual event featuring a federal expert, the Council has also expanded coverage of RPEC’s legislative work at a federal level, including advocating for expanded Medicare benefits and expanded funding for Social Security.
Please register today! Partner organizations are also being invited to this special one-time event. Registration will close on August 1.
