One thing about your misplaced recommendations for voting, with a very few exceptions I just have to vote against your picks. Your description of the initiatives is, to be nice, is fantasy. Inslee and Fergeson pushed those programs and various laws through the legislature instead of doing their jobs as the executive branch of government, ie following and enforcing the existing laws. How many hundreds of thousands of dollars has Fergeson been fined by judges for not following the law? Of course the State of Washington paid his fines. He should be in jail not running for Governor!

Regarding the ballot initiatives, RPEC is fighting for your retirement security. If any one of the three initiatives receives voter approval, the state’s operating budget will be significantly impacted, limiting our ability to move any priorities through the Legislature that require a fiscal investment.
We have already been told by legislators, from both sides of the aisle, that our request for the restoration of a recurring cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for PERS/TRS 1 retirees will be a challenge, given the current fiscal picture. If any one of these three initiatives is approved by voters, the restoration of the recurring COLA will be unlikely in 2025.
We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback, and of course, your support of the Retired Public Employees Council of Washington.
