ParticipantHI Members of RPEC,
June 14th is coming up fast. Have you plans? There will be a national rally for “No Kings Day”. I live in I live in Ocean Shores and have attended in Olympia and Ocean Shores. Both rallies left me feeling that at last there is something that I could do.I so feel that this environment, that we find ourselves in, does not address “which side you may be on” it involves all of us, actually, too many issues to list. I will be attending the Olympia rally and would be happy to provide a ride for anyone that needs one. Somehow we need to get our leaders to pay attention. For me, the rallies have been uplifting, fun and they sure let me know that you I am not alone. (The little town of Ocean Shores had over 500 rally goers. Together, let’s get the message out to the people that are making these rules, etc. that we are watching, we don’t like what we are seeing and are not going to just stand by.

ParticipantConnie,
Thank you for posting this. I also find the rallies have been uplifting and bring hope. This is a time we all need to stand up, unions have been at the forefront of peaceful protests and we can teach others how to have a voice.
What is happening on the federal level impacts our members greatly and I for one would like to see this on the front page of RPEC so our members that feel helpless can experience the same hope you found in attending these rallies.

ParticipantBrenda,
Thank you for your reply to my post. I did hesitate broaching this subject, as I worried that this topic would be too political. As I continue to look at what is happening, right before our eyes, I deeply feel that we all need to get out and do something to try to address these changes. One change or maybe many changes will affect each of us. For me, this means to do whatever I can to have my voice heard. Actually I can not settle on a good rally sign, as there as so many issues that need to be covered, I can not settle on just one or two. This is the time for each of us to ask, “If not me, then who?At the rally I will be wearing my RPEC shirt, please introduce yourself if you see me.Connie Greenidge

ParticipantConnie,
I understand the signs. I had to make words on both sides and just kept on turning it.
As far as political…. Everything we do is however when it comes to RPEC I look at the issue ie:our data being taken by a third party, the security risk to Social Security, the dismantling of agencies that keep us safe either medically, water, food etc. The current bill that takes away money from medicare hurting security for seniors these are all issues we need to be vocal about and they fit squarely in the legislative agenda for RPEC. I wish when we open the web page for REPC these issues would be at the forefront. I understand the forum pages however currently it reaches very few. Keep up the hope that the majority is on the front line, as we should to shed light on the issues. Happy protesting for No Kings Day and other events.

ParticipantRPEC Members,
Are you feeling helpless, like what can I do? There is so much to be concerned about. It does not matter which side you see yourself on, get in there and let your voice be heard. What is going on, in your neighborhood, state or federal arena. We don’t need to sit on the side lines. We can get out there and work at making a difference for us and the people in our lives.
I live in Ocean Shores, not really a political activists arena. This week-end we have a town hall in Aberdeen, and a Democratic gathering and picnic in Ocean Shores. Probably much more opportunities. The gatherings are there, we need to be there too. Most of us spend our lives “getting our point across” we can make a difference AGAIN. Fighting for a COLA, for PERS 1 that was taken away, and not given back, is small potatoes compared how all this will impact us.

ParticipantBrenda,
You and I think alike. I too wish RPEC would take a more foreword looking stance, on this political debacle. At this point, I believe that it is being left to the membership. Nothing wrong with that as this forum, provided by RPEC, is giving us an avenue to express our concerns. It is time to step up and try to get members out to rally for what is good for all of us.
I wonder if we can get a group of RPEC members for No Kings Day?
