RPEC members are encouraged to attend the next virtual meeting of Select Committee on Pension Policy (SCPP) on Tuesday, September 21. The Full Committee Meeting begins at 10am and will be on Zoom. The Executive Committee meets directly after the Full Committee and begins at 12pm.
The September 21st agenda will feature a report on the State Actuary’s Long-Term Economic Assumptions which are the basis for the funding of our pension system. During the Full Committee meeting there will be an opportunity for public testimony, but just showing up is important to show the committee that retirees are engaged are expecting action on the issues that impact them. RPEC and our allies expect that a specific COLA bill will be introduced for consideration and approval by the SCPP at a subsequent meeting.

Our message is clear, retirees in Plan 1 need a consistent and substantial COLA to prevent further loss of purchasing power.
