Dear District 1 RPEC members (Chapters 6, 7, 8 and 37),
We had some success in this year’s legislative session that ended recently.
Early in the session there were fears of heavy cuts to the PEBB benefits due to the pandemic. However, with the unexpected new cash flow from the other Washington the benefit survived without changes.
The billionaire capital gains tax passed as well as an 800-million-dollar payment against the unfunded mandate deficit in the TRS 1 fund.
But once again, a proposed one-time cost of living increase for PERS 1 retirees didn’t make the finish line.
To find out what happened, we will hear from a select group of legislators at our District 1 Zoom meeting at 1pm – 3pm, Tuesday, June 8th.
