On Wednesday, March 18th, RPEC Executive Director James Cockburn held a conference call with RPEC leaders to discuss the on-going situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, the impact it is having on RPEC’s operations, and the guidance for chapter leaders on how to continue to communicate with their members. The notes from that call can be found here: Conference Call Notes
The RPEC Office will remain closed through March 31st. RPEC staff are available via email. Phone messages left to the office phone numbers will be checked regularly and responded to.
Based on CDC guidelines, the RPEC Executive Board is encouraging chapters to cancel in-person meetings through May 15th.
Chapter Officers may continue to serve beyond the end of their terms, until such time as it is safe to hold an in-person meeting to hold official elections. If Chapter Officers are unwilling or become unable to continue to serve, the Chapter Executive Board can hold a conference call meeting to appoint an interim officer until it is safe to hold an in-person meeting to hold official elections.
Chapter leaders are encouraged to utilize alternative means of communicating while we are in this crisis. Automated robo-calls, email, and conference calls are all available to chapter leaders and RPEC staff can assist with setting up those arrangements. Chapters leaders are also encouraged to submit information for posting to the RPEC Website and Facebook page.
