Note: On March 8, the state Legislature approved a measure (SSB 6340) to provide certain retirees of PERS and TRS Plan 1 a one-time increase to their monthly benefit of 1.5%, not to exceed $62.50, effective July 2018. Bills approved by the Legislature must be signed by the governor to become law. DRS will provide additional information on implementation after the governor has acted on the measure.

Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs) have been set for 2018. COLAs will take effect July 1 and will be reflected in end-of-July benefit payments.

The tables below show the 2018 COLA percentages based on your retirement date and plan. (Looking for COLAS from the previous year? See the 2017 COLA percentages table.)

Most COLAs are based on changes in the Consumer Price Index for the greater Seattle area.
